While on holiday in Windermere Lake District I sketched this landscape then applied watercolour.  I completed this oil painting in my studio several times within a couple months. It was the longest time to spend this painting, I applied different techniques from the plein-air method as well as waiting for the paint to dry before painting wet on dry. And also I used glazing on the foreground of the shadow of the red boat and wet pebbles on island.
